Hey everyone! Wow, can you believe it, I'm almost done with my freshman year of college! And in 3 weeks I will be heading out to Colorado for the summer! A year ago, I would have never imagined my life would be headed in this direction. To God be the glory! I am really nervous about being so far away from all of you, on the other side of the country, but am really looking forward to what God's got for me this summer! So far, I have raised $725 toward my summer endeavors. I would like to raise at least $900. $700 will pay for the GCM Leadership Training program itself. The other $200 is for gas money and transportation out there and back, overnight lodging out there and back, and food expenses. In addition to participating in the Leadership Training program, part of the requirement for it is that you have to be employed by the YMCA of the Rockies, so I will be working in Food Service at the Y out there this summer with 12-13 other h2o-ers. There are others working in housekeeping, Day Camp, and lifeguarding, among other positions. All in all there are about 22 of us going out there this summer.
I definitely appreciate the support that I have already gotten from everyone, and I appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers. It is going to be a challenge for me, as it is not only the furthest I've been away from family and friends, but it will also be the longest I've been away from family and friends at one time. It seemed like living 2 1/2 hours away from home for college was tough, but I know this is going to be a real challenge at times. I definitely thank everyone for their support in this, I know that I won't be able to make it through without everyone.
For everyone visiting the first time, I encourage you to go over to the Links portion on this page, and check out our church website, h2o Church, the Great Comission Ministries website, as well as the link to My Photos. These aren't all of the pictures I have (a great majority of those have been compiled into albums on Facebook), but there are some pictures from our Spring Break Missions Trip to New York City, as well as some other ones from all the other things that I am involved in with h2o. There is also a link to our group blog. Everyone going out to Colorado will be able to contribute to this blog, so if you'd like to see how some of our other students are doing out in Colorado, and what God is doing in their lives, I encourage you to visit that blog as well.
Thanks everyone! I love you all!
